Kindergarten Program

Fox Valley Montessori Academy is excited to offer a new 5-6 year old Kindergarten program! Our mission is to offer a less standardized, more authentic learning experience for our young learners. If you are new to the Montessori methodology or your child is currently in a Montessori preschool, our Kindergarten program would be a great fit for your child.

Our classroom will follow a similar full day schedule as our Children’s House; however, we will have a deeper focus on core learning objectives in Literacy and Mathematics that closely align with the Common Core Standards. FVMA’s curriculum focuses on 5 key pillars: Literacy, Mathematics, Practical Life, Sensorial, and Cultural. Students will be observed and assessed throughout the school year to gauge their level of understanding of kindergarten learning objectives to prepare them for their journey to elementary education. We believe that every child learns differently, and their learning style should align with their natural developmental timetable. Our Montessori Kindergarten classroom provides an open environment for students to freely explore and direct their learning. Students will have ample time for outdoor play in our natural playground and gross motor activities in our indoor play space. Our licensed & certified Kindergarten teacher guides the students through their learning journey and presents curriculum in an effective, personalized manner. Students will learn a variety of subject matter as defined in our monthly curriculum themes such as: Anatomy, Solar System, Our Country, Work in the Community, and more. Our goal is to instill a love for learning in our students by providing an open environment to encourage exploration and curiosity.

My name is Marci and I am so excited to be joining the Fox Valley Montessori Team! I grew up outside Madison and went to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I graduated with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. I went on to teach in Illinois at a middle school. I taught 6th and 8th grade Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. From there, I traveled to South Korea for two years where I worked with kindergarten students at Busan Foreign School and also taught 2nd grade at the International School of Koje.

After my time in South Korea, my husband and I moved to South Florida where I taught 4th grade for three years.  It wasn't until I enrolled my daughter in a Montessori child care program that I discovered the Montessori Methods and I was hooked! I left teaching public school and started as a Lead Primary guide at Waves of Wonder Montessori school in Naples, FL. Since then I have been very passionate about Montessori methods and obtained my Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Diploma from NAMC. The past few years I have been a stay at home mom to my two wonderful children. During this time, I created a "school" in our basement that is 100% Montessori based and took my kiddos to "school" every day. I am extremely excited to be back in the classroom, especially since it is Montessori Kindergarten! I am looking forward to meeting all the wonderful families, staff, and children at Fox Valley Montessori.

I have two amazing children! My daughter Mila is in 1st grade and my son Matisse is 4 years old. I've been married to my wonderful husband Mathieu for 7 years. He is from the South of France so we get to travel often to Europe to see his family there. We also have two cats and a dog!
